Building more than homes
For more than two decades, Richard France built a successful career in corporate accounting and finance — working with the biggest names in entertainment and professional sports, managing portfolios and guiding financial strategy. Despite thriving in that world, he knew something was missing.
“I was seeking further fulfillment,” Richard recalls. “I was praying a lot on it. I was asking God, What’s my calling? What’s my purpose? How can I make a difference in humanity?”
The answer wouldn’t be found in the boardroom.
It wasn’t until Richard decided to renovate a few of his own properties that it clicked. He had a passion for construction and renovation — and he could use his passion to materially improve the lives of others.
“I knew I could make Labour of Love real when I discovered my God-given purpose, which is construction and renovation,” he says. “I found my joy and passion in turning distressed living conditions into extraordinary spaces. That’s when I felt in my heart that God had an assignment for Labour of Love to bless families with access to beautiful housing conditions to empower and uplift our vulnerable communities.”
And just like that, Labour of Love was born: a nonprofit committed to supporting underserved communities by transforming homes and unlocking possibilities.
While Labour of Love’s mission is straightforward, its impact is expansive. For Richard and his team, it goes beyond drywall and paint. It’s about helping families take control of their future.
“Our cause is centered on helping families with three pillars,” he explains. “First, to improve their quality of life. Second, to unlock and protect the generational wealth of their properties. And third, to offer hope and inspiration towards the pursuit of their dreams.”
Where many see renovations as surface-level makeovers, Richard says the impact goes much deeper. “Often in construction, the reveal is always about the before and after of a room,” according to Richard. “But for Labour of Love, the true reveal that we're aspiring to achieve is the transformation of lives and impacting human lives. That's the real reveal.”
It’s this belief — that homes can be the foundation for hope — that has guided Labour of Love from the beginning.
Like any new nonprofit, Labour of Love has faced its share of obstacles.
“As a startup nonprofit organization, a challenge we have endured is the lack of access to a network that fully believes in our organization,” Richard says. “When you embark on a road less traveled, finding those who will support and guide you in your journey takes time. The adage of 100 ‘nos’ before you receive that powerful yes is so true.”
Still, Richard doesn’t just see the glass as half full. He sees it overflowing. “These challenges offer an opportunity for clarity in your mission, purpose, and vision,” he explains. “Ultimately, you have to believe in your organization’s cause, consistently put in the work, and the proper networks and allies will align with your offering.”
That mindset — rooted in persistence and resilience — has carried Labour of Love forward.
For Labour of Love — like many startups — financial wellness is the foundation of growth. Richard believes that stability starts with structure.
“We believe financial wellness involves having clear strategic goals, sound infrastructure, and executing those goals in a disciplined approach,” he says. “All facets of the organization must be aligned with fulfilling the organization’s cause of impacting our communities.”
At Stackwell, we know a thing or two about the power of financial wellness. We know first-hand how supporting small business owners creates a ripple effect that’s felt by entire communities. When we began our search for powerful visions to support in the LA area, Richard was an ideal candidate.
In 2025, Stackwell launched the Visionary Ventures Program, a groundbreaking collaboration with Social Change Fund United and the National Basketball Players Association. Designed to support small business owners in Los Angeles, Visionary Ventures provides more than funds to invest, but strategies to fortify your financial wellness and a community at your side.
“The Visionary Ventures Program is an amazing platform for our organization,” Richard says. “We are immensely grateful and humbled for their belief in our cause. Being a part of a community of peers who are serving to impact our communities has made this experience so fulfilling. Having access to a broad network of professionals will provide us a strong platform to help us realize our dreams.”
The team behind Visionary Ventures was drawn to Richard’s vision of transforming lives in underserved communities — and we’re here to back him up as he navigates growing Labour of Love.
At the heart of Visionary Ventures is the Stackwell app, a platform designed to not only help you invest toward your goals — but to build sustainable financial wellness skills and put the tools you need right at your fingertips.
“The Stackwell app is a great platform for acquiring the financial resources and tools to build generational wealth,” Richard says. “The app provides simplified performance metrics of our portfolio so we can easily monitor investments. It truly empowers small organizations to focus on our investment strategies, which will ultimately help our communities thrive.”
At Stackwell, we’re simplifying investing, so leaders like Richard can focus on what matters most: the mission.
Richard’s story is a testament to the power of purpose. What began as a prayer for clarity has grown into a movement that blends generosity, housing, and hope.
For Labour of Love, the future is about scale — bringing dream homes and magical spaces within reach for more families, more neighborhoods, and more communities. For Stackwell, the future is about expanding access, building financial wellness, and ensuring that organizations like Labour of Love have the tools they need to thrive.
Together, their missions converge on one truth: security and stability are not privileges — they’re possibilities. And when those possibilities are unlocked, lives transform.
To paraphrase Richard, the real reveal is the transformation of lives.
