New year, new financial game plan
What good are resolutions without a game plan to make them happen?
The new year is the perfect time to set the tone for your financial journey. Whether you’re starting fresh or building on your progress, now’s the moment to reflect, set goals, and take actionable steps toward financial wellness.
Here’s a few ways to get started:
- Take stock of your current financial situation. The New Year is the perfect time to reflect on where you are and where you want to go. What’s your income and savings situation? What debts are you carrying? Do you have other assets to consider?
- Create a debt repayment plan. Look at your income and figure out how much you can allocate toward paying down student loans, a mortgage, or medical bills. Tackle those balances strategically to lighten your financial load.
- Grow your savings. Whether you’re saving for retirement, a dream vacation, or just a rainy day, this is a great moment to determine how much you can consistently set aside to build your financial cushion.
- Invest with intention. No matter how you invest — whether it’s with Stackwell or another firm — ensure your portfolio is diversified and your investment strategies match your goals. (At Stackwell, we take care of that for you)
- Schedule regular financial check-ins. Add financial wellness to your calendar now. Routine reviews will keep you on track and in control of your money goals. On our team, Grace likes to set a monthly money date to go through her savings and spending to make sure she’s on track.
No matter your resolution, Stackwell is here to guide you every step of the way. Let’s make 2025 your best financial year yet.
Spotlight on New Orleans
We’re making waves in New Orleans, and we couldn’t be more excited about the impact we’re creating through our partnerships with the United Way of Southeast Louisiana (UWSELA) and the New Orleans Pelicans. From empowering families to celebrating students, this past month has been packed with moments that show what’s possible when we work together to build financial opportunities.
Through our RISE program with UWSELA, we’ve been helping families across the Greater New Orleans area build healthier financial habits and gain confidence in their financial futures. This month, our RISE participants — a group of the most amazing women — came together to talk about the challenges they face, like systemic barriers and navigating interest rate trends. These are the kinds of conversations that inspire us to do even more. We’re so excited to see the UWSELA team embracing the journey too, joining the Stackwell movement and becoming Stackers themselves.
Our Divine 9/HBCU Night with the New Orleans Pelicans was another huge highlight this month. Paris and Calvin, two incredible HBCU students from our Student Investment Program and Power of Prosperity program, were front and center, sharing how Stackwell has helped them take charge of their finances. Their stories are proof of the ripple effect that starts with one investment and grows into something bigger. Watch the video.
Oh, and don’t forget our Pelicans community sweepstakes — we’re giving away $2,500 in investment credits and game tickets to help even more folks in New Orleans start building wealth. Enter the sweepstakes now.
From RISE to HBCU Night and everything in between, we’re proud to be investing in New Orleans, working with the people who make this city what it is. This is how you create real, lasting impact — and we’re just getting started.
