That includes first-time investors, early career professionals, and anyone who’s curious about building wealth but hasn’t known where to start.
We specifically focus on multicultural communities and historically excluded investors who want a simple, supportive way to begin investing and learn as they go.
If you’ve ever thought, “I know that I should be doing this, but I don’t know how,” Stackwell was built for you.

As you become more comfortable, you can continue adding funds and growing your portfolio over time.
How much money should I invest?
The right amount to invest depends on your financial goals, budget, and personal situation.
Many people start small and build the habit of investing over time. The most important step is getting started and creating a consistent investing routine.
With Stackwell, you can begin investing with as little as $10 and choose how much you want to contribute based on what works for you.
How much money do I need to get started?
To open a Stackwell investing account, you need a minimum deposit of $10.
Why do you need my Social Security number?
Your Social Security Number (SSN) is required to open an investment account in the United States.
Federal regulations require investment advisers and brokerage partners to verify your identity before opening an account. Your SSN helps confirm your identity, prevent fraud, and meet other regulatory requirements.
Your SSN is encrypted and securely stored in accordance with industry security standards.
If you’re having trouble verifying your identity or your Social Security number is being rejected during sign-up, contact Support at support@stackwellcapital.com.
Why do you need my personal information?
Investment accounts are regulated financial accounts, so we're required to verify your identity before you can begin investing.
Information like your legal name, date of birth, address, and contact information helps us confirm your identity, protect your account, and comply with federal regulations designed to prevent fraud and financial crime.
Your information is handled securely and is only used as required to open and maintain your investment account.
If you’re having trouble completing identity verification or aren’t sure what information you need to provide, contact Support at support@stackwellcapital.com.
How long does account approval take?
Most Stackwell accounts are approved within 2-3 business days, and many are approved much sooner.
In some cases, approval may take longer if additional identity verification is required or if information provided during sign-up needs to be reviewed.
If your application requires additional information, we'll let you know what steps to take.
If it’s been more than 3 business days and your account still hasn’t been approved, contact Support at support@stackwellcapital.com.
Why is my investment account delayed or rejected?
Most investment account delays happen because we need additional information to verify your identity. Make sure you have completed all the necessary steps in the app.
This can happen if your name, address, date of birth, or Social Security Number doesn't match official records, or if required information is missing or incomplete. In some cases, federal regulations require additional review before an investment account can be opened.
If your application is delayed, Stackwell will let you know if any additional information or documentation is needed to continue the approval process.
If your account has been delayed or rejected and you’re not sure what information is needed to continue, contact Support at support@stackwellcapital.com.
How do I enter a promo code?
You can enter a promo code during onboarding.
During onboarding, you will be prompted to Fund your account. After following the steps to connect your bank account, you will be prompted to set a recurring deposit.
You can either Confirm deposit or Change amount. After you have set your recurring deposit, you will be asked to Review deposit.

Managing my Investments
What am I invested in?
Stackwell invests your money in a diversified portfolio of exchange-traded funds (ETFs).
Rather than investing in individual stocks, ETFs allow your portfolio to hold a broad mix of investments across different companies, industries, and asset classes. Diversification helps reduce risk while supporting long-term growth.
Your portfolio is personalized based on your goals, timeline, and risk comfort level, then managed automatically by Stackwell.
To view fund details:
- Open the Stackwell app and navigate to My Stack.
- Select an investment type to view its details: U.S. Stocks, U.S. Corporate Bonds, U.S.Treasury Bonds, International Stocks.
- Review Fund Ticker, Market Price, Shares Owned, Total Value, %of your portfolio, and Investment Type.
What is automated investing?
Automated investing means Stackwell handles the day-to-day management of your investment portfolio for you.
When you open a Stackwell account, you answer questions about your goals, timeline, and comfort with risk. Based on your answers, Stackwell builds a diversified ETF portfolio designed for you.
When you add money to your account, Stackwell automatically invests it according to your portfolio strategy. Stackwell also monitors your portfolio and automatically rebalances it when needed to keep your investments aligned with your strategy.
You don't need to pick individual stocks, decide what to buy and sell, or constantly monitor the market. You can focus on your goals while Stackwell handles the investing.
And if you want to understand more about what you're doing with your money, Stackwell's interactive lessons, articles, quizzes, and learning playlists give you a place to learn at your own pace.
How do I change my portfolio?
You can change your Stackwell portfolio anytime through the Stackwell app. Your portfolio options are designed to match different comfort levels with risk, so you can choose the option that best fits your financial goals.
To change your portfolio:
- Open the Stackwell app and navigate to My Stack.
- At the top of the screen, select the block labeled “Portfolio type: [X].” This section shows your current portfolio and the percentage of stocks and bonds it includes.

- Select “Make change” to confirm your new portfolio selection.
Your portfolio will update after your change is confirmed and will be reflected in your Stackwell account.

Why does Stackwell invest in ETFs?
Stackwell uses ETFs instead of individual stocks because they allow us to build diversified portfolios efficiently. Instead of relying on the performance of one company, ETFs allow your portfolio to hold a broad mix of investments across different companies, industries, and asset types.
What is an ETF?
An ETF, or exchange-traded fund, is a type of investment that holds a collection of different assets, such as stocks or bonds.
Think of an ETF like a basket: instead of buying individual investments one at a time, an ETF lets you own small pieces of many investments at once. This can help make it easier to build a diversified portfolio.
Stackwell uses ETFs as part of its automated investing approach to help create diversified portfolios based on your goals and risk comfort level.
What is SPY?
SPY is an ETF that gives your portfolio exposure to many large U.S. companies.
Stackwell includes SPY in some portfolios because it provides exposure to the S&P 500 Index, which tracks around 500 of the largest publicly traded companies in the United States.
Rather than investing in one company, SPY allows your portfolio to hold small pieces of many companies across different industries. This helps create a more diversified portfolio designed for long-term investing.
What is USIG?
USIG is an ETF that gives your portfolio exposure to U.S. corporate bonds.
Stackwell may include USIG in certain portfolios because bonds can help add balance and diversification. Instead of investing in one company’s bonds, USIG holds bonds from many different U.S. companies.
The mix of stocks and bonds in your portfolio is based on your goals and comfort with risk.
What is SCHP?
SCHP is an ETF that invests in Treasury Inflation-Protected Securities (TIPS).
Stackwell may include SCHP in certain portfolios because TIPS are designed to help protect against the effects of inflation over time.
Adding different types of investments, including bonds, can help create a more balanced portfolio based on your investment goals and risk preferences.
What is SPDW?
SPDW is an ETF that gives your portfolio exposure to companies outside of the United States.
Stackwell may include SPDW in certain portfolios to add international diversification. Investing in companies across different countries and markets can help spread your investments beyond the U.S. market.
How are investments selected?
Stackwell builds your investment portfolio based on the information you provide when you open your account.
During sign-up, you'll answer a few questions about your financial goals, investing timeline, and comfort with risk. Based on your responses, Stackwell recommends a diversified ETF portfolio aligned with your investment profile.
Once your portfolio is created, Stackwell continues to manage it automatically so you can stay focused on your long-term goals.
How is my portfolio performing?
You can track your portfolio's performance anytime in the Stackwell app.
Your account dashboard shows your portfolio balance, investment performance, contributions, and overall progress toward your financial goals. Because investing is designed to build wealth over time, it's normal to see your portfolio's value fluctuate as markets move.
The most important measure of success is staying invested and consistently contributing toward your long-term goals.
How often is my account rebalanced?
Stackwell automatically monitors and rebalances your portfolio to adjust for ebbs and flows in the market.
Rebalancing helps keep your investments aligned with your goals as market values change over time. This allows your portfolio to stay consistent without requiring you to make adjustments yourself.
Automatic portfolio management is included with your Stackwell subscription.
What happens if markets go down?
Investing involves risk, and your account value can go up or down depending on market performance.
Because Stackwell invests in diversified ETF portfolios, your investments are spread across many companies and asset types rather than relying on a single investment.
Market changes are a normal part of long-term investing. Stackwell continues to manage your portfolio and rebalance it based on your goals and investment strategy, even when markets fluctuate.
Investing is not rocket science, it’s something anyone can do. To have Stackwell walking me along the way just giving me these reminders is amazing. I’m excited to let the money sit and keep adding to it.

Are Stackwell programs legit?
Yes. Stackwell is a legitimate investing platform and an SEC-registered investment adviser. We help people build wealth through automated investing, personalized ETF portfolios, financial education, and community-based programs.
Some of our programs provide participants with funds to help them start investing — and we understand why that can feel surprising. Traditional financial wellness programs often focus on education alone, but Stackwell believes that confidence comes from both learning and taking action. Stackwell’s ownership model for financial wellness programs is just one of many ways our company is unique.
By providing eligible participants with funds to invest, we help people experience the investing process firsthand, build investing habits, and gain confidence as long-term investors.
Your investments are held through our regulated brokerage partner, and Stackwell follows industry regulations designed to help protect investors.
How might the receipt of investment credits from a Stackwell program impact my ability to continue to receive other forms of public assistance?
If you receive investment credits through a Stackwell program, it’s natural to wonder how that money might affect your taxes or your eligibility for benefits. Depending on your situation, grant funds could be treated as either income or a gift — and that can make a difference when it comes to taxes and certain benefit programs.
Stackwell’s role is to help you access opportunities and build financial confidence — but we don’t provide tax, legal, or benefits advice. Everyone’s financial situation is unique, and the rules can vary. To understand how a grant funding may impact your taxes or benefits, we encourage you to talk with a qualified tax professional, benefits counselor, or trusted advisor who can give you personalized guidance.

A trade confirmation is a record that shows when a transaction happens in your Stackwell investment account. Receiving a trade confirmation is normal and does not mean you need to take any action.
You may receive a trade confirmation when:
- Your deposit is invested
- Dividends earned from your investments are reinvested
- Your portfolio is automatically rebalanced
- Investments are sold as part of a withdrawal request
Stackwell is an automated investing platform, which means your portfolio is managed automatically based on your goals and investment strategy. As part of that process, Stackwell may automatically buy or sell investments to help keep your portfolio aligned over time.
You may receive these emails from our brokerage partner, Apex, when these transactions occur. We recommend reviewing and saving trade confirmations for your records, but in most cases, no action is needed.

Receiving a monthly account statement is normal and does not necessarily mean you need to take any action.

If you expected a tax form based on your account activity and don’t see it when tax documents become available, contact Support at support@stackwellcapital.com.
Do I pay taxes when I withdraw money?
Withdrawing money doesn't automatically create taxes.
However, selling investments as part of a withdrawal may result in taxable gains or losses, depending on your account activity and how long you've held your investments.
Because everyone's tax situation is different, consider speaking with a qualified tax professional if you have questions.
Are the investment credits I got from a Stackwell program taxable? And, could they affect my other benefits?
Credits to start investing from a Stackwell program could be treated as income or as a gift, and that can affect your taxes and your eligibility for some public assistance programs. Stackwell helps you access opportunities and build financial confidence, but we don't provide tax, legal, or benefits advice. Since every situation is different, we recommend talking with a tax professional, benefits counselor, or trusted advisor about how grant funds might affect you.

About Stackwell
What is Stackwell?
Stackwell is an automated investing app and SEC-registered investment adviser that helps people start investing, build wealth, and grow their financial confidence over time.
When you sign up, Stackwell asks a few questions about your goals and risk comfort level, then builds and manages a personalized ETF portfolio for you. The app also includes financial education, investing tools, and habit-building resources designed to help you become a more confident investor.
Stackwell is built for people who want a simple way to start investing without having to pick individual stocks or manage their portfolio on their own.
How does Stackwell work?
Stackwell is an automated investing app that helps you start investing and build wealth without having to choose and manage individual investments yourself.
When you open a Stackwell account, you’ll answer a few questions about your financial goals, investing timeline, and comfort with risk. Stackwell uses your answers to build a personalized portfolio of ETFs designed to match your investment profile.
Once your account is funded, Stackwell manages your portfolio for you, including automatically investing your contributions and rebalancing your portfolio when needed.
You can also use Stackwell to learn as you go. The app includes interactive lessons, articles, quizzes, and learning playlists designed with first-time investors in mind. Our educational content is culturally attuned and built to make investing easier to understand — so you can build both your wealth and your confidence over time.
How is Stackwell different from other investing apps?
Stackwell combines automated investing, portfolio management, and financial education in a single platform designed for first-time investors.
Unlike many investing apps that focus on stock trading, Stackwell builds and manages a diversified ETF portfolio based on your goals and risk preferences. You don't need to research individual stocks, time the market, or make ongoing investment decisions yourself.
In addition to automated investing, Stackwell provides educational content and tools that help you build investing knowledge, confidence, and long-term wealth-building habits.

How does Stackwell make money?
Stackwell makes money through subscription fees for its investing platform and through partnerships with mission-aligned organizations.
The $5 monthly subscription covers the management of your investment portfolio. Unlike many managed investment accounts that charge a percentage of your assets under management (AUM), Stackwell charges a flat monthly fee, so the cost stays the same as your investments grow.
We also partner with select employers, nonprofits, financial services companies, sports teams and entertainment figures, colleges and universities, and scaled impact initiatives to expand access to investing through sponsored programs, financial education, and community initiatives.
What is Stackwell's mission?
Stackwell’s mission is to make the power of investing real and accessible for people who have historically been excluded from traditional wealth-building systems.
We do this through simple investing tools, built-in financial education, and a supportive community that helps emerging investors build momentum and confidence over time.
Our science-based engagement tools drive behavioral change and break down cultural, social, and emotional barriers to financial inclusion. We’re helping people grow their investing confidence so they can take control of their financial futures.
The goal isn’t just better portfolios. It’s helping more people build lasting financial habits, grow their wealth, and move toward generational impact.
What inspired Stackwell?
Stackwell was founded to open up investing to people who were never truly invited in.
Investing is one of the most powerful tools for building long-term wealth, but too many people have been excluded from it — through lack of access, confusing systems, or financial services that were never designed with them in mind.
We built Stackwell because access alone isn’t enough. People also need clear guidance, culturally relevant education, and tools that make getting started feel doable — not intimidating. Traditional financial services haven’t always filled that gap, especially for first-time investors from historically excluded communities.
Stackwell exists to change that starting point.
Who are Stackwell's partners?
Stackwell partners with organizations that share a commitment to expanding financial wellness and wealth-building access across the U.S.
These partners include universities, nonprofits, employers, and mission-driven companies that help bring investing access, seed funding, and financial education into the communities they serve.
Together, we build programs that combine investing tools, learning, and real-world support to help more people get started and stay invested.
Is Stackwell a financial advisor?
Yes. Stackwell is an SEC-registered investment adviser that provides automated investing and portfolio management.
In practice, that means we act as a robo-advisor. Instead of picking individual stocks yourself, you answer a few questions about your goals and risk comfort level, and Stackwell builds and manages a diversified ETF portfolio for you.
Through the app, you can track your progress, automate contributions, and access financial education designed to help you build better investing habits over time.
Is Stackwell legit?
By providing eligible participants with funds to invest, we help people experience the investing process firsthand, build investing habits, and gain confidence as long-term investors.
Your investments are held through our regulated brokerage partner, and Stackwell follows industry regulations designed to help protect investors.
How is Stackwell different from Robinhood?
Stackwell and Robinhood both help people access investing, but they are designed for different types of investors.
Robinhood is primarily a self-directed investing platform, where users choose individual stocks, ETFs, and other investments to buy and sell themselves.
Stackwell is designed for people who want a more guided investing experience. Instead of choosing individual investments on your own, Stackwell builds and manages a diversified ETF portfolio based on your goals and comfort with risk.
Stackwell also combines investing with financial education. Through the app, you can explore interactive lessons, articles, quizzes, and Learning Playlists designed to help first-time investors build knowledge, confidence, and long-term investing habits.
Stackwell charges a flat $5 monthly subscription fee to manage your portfolio. Unlike platforms that may charge fees based on your account balance, Stackwell’s subscription fee stays the same as your investments grow.
How is Stackwell different from a traditional financial advisor?
Stackwell provides automated investing and portfolio management through a digital platform, while traditional financial advisors typically provide personalized guidance through one-on-one meetings.
With Stackwell, you answer questions about your goals, timeline, and comfort with risk, and the platform builds and manages a diversified ETF portfolio for you. Your portfolio is automatically monitored and rebalanced over time.
Stackwell also includes financial education tools, including interactive lessons, articles, quizzes, and Learning Playlists designed specifically for people who are new to investing.
Traditional investment advisors often charge a percentage of the assets they manage. Stackwell uses a flat $5 monthly subscription fee, so the cost does not increase as your portfolio grows.
Stackwell is not a replacement for personalized financial advice from a human advisor, but it offers an accessible way to start investing and build confidence along the way.
What type of investment account does Stackwell offer?
Stackwell currently offers individual taxable brokerage accounts.
Each account includes a professionally managed ETF portfolio that is personalized based on your goals, timeline, and risk preferences. Once your account is funded, Stackwell automatically manages and rebalances your investments to help keep your portfolio aligned with your selected strategy.

Why should I use Stackwell?
Stackwell helps people start investing by making portfolio management, investing education, and wealth-building tools more accessible and easier to use.
You receive a personalized investment portfolio, ongoing portfolio management, educational resources, and tools that support consistent investing habits. By combining investing and learning in one place, Stackwell helps people build both their wealth and their confidence as investors.
